Rice is the most important means of existence for Cambodians. It is the only way to support the family. Each failed or weak harvest means less food for the family. The local people of Boeng Nimol have asked for our support in building a concrete bridge over the canal so that the rice fields are more easily accessible to everybody. This bridge has to be situated in the centre of the fields and has to be strong enough. An oxen-wagon filled with rice weighs about two tons. Building materials such as wood are scarce in Cambodia and therefore very expensive. It is so expensive that people find it very difficult to pay for their own wooden houses.
The execution of this project will probably start in December 2007 – it has been delayed by the rainy season.
Cost: +- 7500 dollar
