Story Ruan

We know that a lot of Cambodian adoptive children or refugees are still looking for their parents and their family. The story of Ruan gives a lot of hope for all these people. Most of the children didn't realise what was happening to them and wouldn't have found their way home again. Unfortunately a large part of the population has been murdered and so the chance to find somebody is small. Luckily the families tend to be extensive so there is always a realistic chance of finding a relative or somebody who can provide more information about your family.

You can write all the information about your family here beneath: names of brothers, sisters, parents, name of the village. If possible, include a picture of yourself when you were a child. Also mention particular places that have a geographical significance such as: near the sea, a big lake, a river, mountains, a concrete road. Ruan was able to draw a little plan of his house and the little lake that was in the neighbourhood. He remembered that when they were children they often went to watch trucks drive by on a hardened road. It seems strange but if you still have scars from your childhood you must surely mention them. Ruan has a big scar on his leg. Meeting his sister for the first time after so many years, the first thing she did was lift his trousers to be sure he was her third brother. Ruan could have been one of the two other missing brothers. They haven’t been found yet.

We can't make any promises and we are not a tracing service. But if we have enough information, we can always look for further links in Cambodia. This website is available in English so that a lot of people can read your tracing.
